Splicing a new neck

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

With the French Double Bass from 1840 shown here, the neck had to be changed, because of its nowadays rather uncommon string length. The original peg box and the scroll have been preserved.

First we fit a new neck into the original peg box. Then the peg box has to be chiseled out again. In a last step the splice between the original peg box and the new inserted neck will be touched up with a fitting varnish.
